The daughter of Dutch farmers, Nathalie Groeneweg grew up on a farm in the Loiret region with her four brothers. At the age of 11, music and the guitar crossed her path. She grew up and went to England to train as a violin maker at Newark and Sherwood College, then in various French workshops.
In 2012, she began training at the Escoulen school in Aiguines, Var.Atelier NG was founded in April 2013. Her curiosity and passion for the material led her to train in sculpture and wooden jewelry making in the following years. In 2015, she finally found a place to set up her workshop in Puy Saint Martin, taking over the studio of her instructor, Jean-François Escoulen. In a magnificent natural setting conducive to creativity, Nathalie offers turned objects, sculpture, instrument repair (accordion and guitar), and individual training.

Articulated Arms & Joints
You want to know how to make a wooden articulated arm?
Here is a demo that you will like!
I use these techniques to make my lamps.
This involves learning how to make tubes, drilling large lengths, 30 cm and more.
Then turn the tubes using different tools, gouge, skew, roughing gouge
The ball joints are small wooden boxes that accommodate the electrical cable but also the rotation and deployment of the arm of the lamp.
A demonstration full of tricks and drilling to learn how to make arms, used for lamps but also other hinged parts.

Pocket Salt/Pepper Shaker
Who hasn’t turned boxes?? I think everyone has tried and certainly succeeded!
Here’s a little different one!
I imagined this clever little box because I never had salt to season my egg during my picnics while hiking!
Here, it will be about turning a box that can open, of course, but which can also turn on itself to serve salt perfectly on your meals!
Friends hikers or simply salt addicts, this demo is for you!

Bird Whistle
I just love birds but I can’t sing like them!
Well, I start to have interest in making bird call whistles and it has been quite challenging and very interesting !
How to make sound with a simple piece of wood… or two…
If you want to know, join me on this whistling rotation!

Bent Trembleur
You all know the famous Trembleur!
In this demo, we will turn one then, to get out of the usual straightness, we will bend it… if he lets himself be made! Suspense!
We will discuss the choice of wood, very important (!), the techniques of fine turning, the use of a steady rest and strings, setting up, maybe a little meditation also to appease the turner… !
Then, once the fine piece is turned, we will give it nice curves, and it may become a spring, a loop or even a knot!
