With over 18 years in the craft field, I serve as Curator and Arts Administrator for the American Association of Woodturners and direct the Gallery of Wood Art in Saint Paul, Minnesota. I’ve curated and managed more than 45 exhibitions, from theme development and jury processes to photography, catalog design and installation.
As a photographer, my work has been in publications including Popular Woodworking, American Woodturner, American Craft, Mpls St. Paul magazine, Woodturning (U.K.), Woodplanet (Korea), Woodworker’s Journal, and the book “A Gathering of Spoons,” along with numerous exhibition catalogs. Whether I’m teaching observational and technical skills to others or taking the photographs, my focus is ensuring makers’ work is presented professionally, in the light it deserves.
A native Minnesotan, I live in St. Paul, where I enjoy time with my grandchildren, exploring research rabbit holes, and taking road trips in search of great pie and adventure. My special interests include contemporary and historical craft in wood, the biology and cultural history of wood, and empowering women in woodworking.
